Chastain returns to Kentucky

The Xfinity Series season reaches its halfway point with Friday’s Alsco 300 at Kentucky Speedway.

And JD Motorsports with Gary Keller driver Ross Chastain has had a fine first half, scoring 10 top-20 runs in 15 races and earning a 13th-place spot in the Xfinity driver standings.

Friday night’s race could produce more positives for Chastain. He has raced six times at the 1.5-mile track — three times in Xfinity and three times in the Camping World Truck Series.

He finished 10th in an Xfinity race at the track in 2014.

“I’ve had good luck and good runs at Kentucky,” said Chastain, driving the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Chevrolet this weekend. “It’s another challenging 1.5-mile track but one that rewards you if you hit your marks and stay out of trouble.”

Chastain posted his best finish of the season – 11th – in last week’s race at Daytona International Speedway.
