Brendan Gaughan Finishes 16th at Richmond International Raceway on Friday Night
Racing under the lights at Richmond International Raceway on Friday night, Brendan Gaughan and the No. 62 South Point Resort & Casino Chevrolet team finished 16th. Starting 11th for the 250-lap race, Gaughan raced where he took the green flag for the first 50 circuits around the .75-mile oval. After a competition caution on lap 42, crew chief Shane Wilson called the black and yellow Chevrolet Camaro to pit road taking on fuel, four ties and a track bar adjustment. During the ensuing green-flag run, he raced his way into the top 10 being scored as high as eighth place. Wilson called Gaughan to pit road under green on lap 127. Just 15 laps later, another caution slowed the pace of the race and also put the No. 62 team one lap down. From there, they raced their way back onto the lead lap via the Lucky Dog restarting in 19th place. Gaughan would pass three more cars to finish in 16th place. As a result, he remains ninth in the drivers point standings as the series heads to Chicagoland Speedway next weekend.

BRENDAN GAUGHAN QUOTE:
“For the last two races at Richmond, we have brought a great car and just didn’t have the finish we needed as proof. We got caught a lap down there after pitting under green, I was patient racing my way back to the lead lap via the Lucky Dog and got that, but just couldn’t capitalize there at the end.”
