Justin Allgaier NNS Preview: Darlington Raceway

150th Start…Justin Allgaier will be making his 150th career NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start at Darlington Raceway. This is his fifth full-time season competing for the NNS Championship. He made his first career NNS start at Charlotte Motor Speedway in October 2008.

Lady in Black…The Lady in Black has been feast or famine for Allgaier, with two top-five finishes and two top-20 finishes in his four career Darlington Raceway starts. While Allgaier hasn’t been able to capture a win at the Lady in Black, he has completed all laps and led 31.

Talladega Recap…Allgaier qualified fifth at Talladega Superspeedway. An afternoon race at the 2.66-mile superspeedway turned into an evening race after a rain delay. Allgaier spent most of the race drafting with Kurt Busch, Nelson Piquet Jr., Regan Smith and Blake Koch. Even after receiving damage from a last-lap accident, Allgaier still managed to bring the No. 31 BRANDT Chevy Camaro home in the fifth position. Allgaier moved up one position to third in the NNS Driver Point Standings.

This Week’s Camaro…Chassis TSM-330 will once again be put to work in NNS competition this weekend at Darlington Raceway. This is the same chassis Allgaier drove to an 11th-place finish at Auto Club Speedway.

Crew chief Scott Zipadelli on Darlington Raceway:

“Darlington [Raceway] is one of the toughest tracks we go to. The conditions from practice to the race are totally different. We practice in the morning when the track is cold and dirty from sitting all year, and then race in the evening after the Cup cars have been on the track and laid down different rubber. The main goal is to keep the car off of the wall and be there at the end.”

Justin Allgaier on Darlington Raceway:

“I can’t wait to get to Darlington [Raceway]. I always enjoy racing at night and it puts on a great show for the fans. There’s a fine line between using most of the track to find grip and speed, and as the track cools it will be faster. I just hope to keep the car off of the wall and bring it home with the least amount of damage possible.”
