Fifth Harmony to perform National Anthem prior to Service Master 200

Radio Disney’s “N.B.T.” (Next Big Thing) and Epic Records’ Fifth Harmonywill perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” live at Phoenix International Racewayprior to the ServiceMaster 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series Race (Saturday, Nov. 9, 2 p.m. MST), PIR President Bryan R. Sperber announced today. The group’s performance was arranged through a partnership between PIR, Radio Disney Phoenix and the NASCAR Entertainment Group.

“We are excited to have one of the most popular musical acts in America perform the national anthem before the ServiceMaster 200,” Sperber said.  “The young ladies in Fifth Harmony are incredibly talented vocalists and I’m certain that our fans will love their performance.”

The teen pop female vocal group was put together by Simon Cowell and is comprised of individual “The X Factor” contestants Dinah Jane Hansen, Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei and Camila Cabello. It was announced in July that Fifth Harmony would be the first act to be spotlighted in Radio Disney’s newly revamped “N.B.T.,” a year-round program to introduce young recently signed artists on the cusp of becoming music’s next big thing. The program takes place across multiple platforms including Disney Channel, Radio Disney, RadioDisney.com, Disney.com and social media sites, as well as at live Radio Disney events in local markets.

Fifth Harmony recently released their debut EP “Better Together,” which skyrocketed to No. 2 on the iTunes’ album chart and features their first single, “Miss Movin’ On.” The members of Fifth Harmony co-wrote many of the songs on the album, which they say deals with the issues they face as teenage girls.  “The songs are a direct reflection of us and what we go through,” Lauren said in the group’s official bio.  “Because we’ve been able to co-write, we’ve been able to personalize our music and make it relatable.”

One of the group’s hallmarks is their strong connection to their fans, nicknamed “Harmonizers,” through social media.  The group’s official Twitter account, @FifthHarmony, has more than 850,000 followers, and each member of the group has more than 350,000 followers on her personal account.

Previous collaborations between NASCAR and The Walt Disney Company include NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Trevor Bayne’s appearance as presenter at the 2013 Radio Disney Music Awards and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Joey Logano’s guest starring role on a recent episode of Disney XD’s live-action comedy series “Lab Rats.”
