MMR: Baize Brings Home 6th Place Finish at Memphis International Raceway

NASCAR made its return to Memphis International Raceway this past weekend as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East participated in the Memphis 125. Weather conditions were exceedingly warm and drivers made sure to stay well hydrated as they participated in an open test day on Friday and race day on Saturday.

Under the direction of crew chief Rick Ren, Baize qualified for NASCAR’s historic return to Memphis International Raceway in the 9th position. After suffering tight handling conditions until adjustments could be made at the half-way break, Baize would ultimately go on to finish the event in the 6th position. Baize now sits 3rd in the season-long driver point standings.

The next race on the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East schedule will be at Berlin Raceway in Berlin, Michigan on July 1st, 2017.

Eric McClure:

“This weekend was a monumental weekend for us on many different levels. First, we as a team and as a series, got to participate in NASCAR’s return to Memphis which was an honor. Next, my company, Overstock Mercantile served as primary sponsor in two NASCAR races in the same weekend. Finally, we took home a solid finish that catapulted us into 3rd place in the season long driver points standings. All in all, I’d say it was a good weekend for us as a team.

We’ve got some time off until the next race and we’re planning on regrouping and preparing for July which will be the busiest month in our schedule.

I can’t say enough about our MMR team and Hunter Baize. Those guys show so much heart every race. I’m very proud of our organization and all we’ve accomplished this season thus far.”

Hal Martin:

“It was an honor to be able to return to Memphis International Raceway. I had forgotten how much I enjoy this track.

This weekend didn’t necessarily go as we had hoped for it to go. We just lacked a little corner speed and the car was tight throughout the weekend. However, our team maintained their focus and made great adjustments throughout the race. We were able to leave Memphis with not only a solid 6th place finish but also a solid points day as well.

I can’t say enough about Hunter Baize and his focus and dedication to his craft. He is a class act and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season as we prepare for a busy July.”

Hunter Baize:

“After the trying weekend we had in Memphis, I think we’re all pleased with a sixth place finish. We fought handling problems from the start of open practice, and were unable to get the car to our liking.

My MMR crew worked so hard. We never give up, and this evident with our solid finish and our move back into third in the points standings. I can’t thank the entire MMR organization enough for their relentless work ethic, and for the opportunity to do what I love.”
