Just a few weeks after winning the pole at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Michael McDowell is back at the top of the board this weekend starting on the pole for tomorrow’s GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway after posting a time of 52.609 seconds at 182.022 mph.
Cindric would be a tick slower at 52.691 seconds followed by McDowell teammate Gilliland starting in the third spot. Rounding out the top-five would be the pair of Richard Childress Racing machines of Busch and Dillion.
Kyle Larson would fail to post a time in qualifying after NASCAR found an issue with his car preventing them from rolling the car to the grid after it was found the team had manipulated the roof rails on the car.
Tomorrow’s GEICO 500 is scheduled to roll off at 3:00 p.m. ET on FOX for 188 laps (500.08 miles) with scheduled stage breaks at lap 60, 120 and 188.
