No. 20 DEWALT Toyota Camry XSE News and Notes:

  • PHOENIX WIN NOTES: Christopher Bell claimed his seventh career NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) win last weekend at Phoenix Raceway. It marked the seventh different track Bell has won at in his young career. The day was not easy for the No. 20 driver as he finished 13th in stage one before methodically working his way up the leaderboard to win stage two. A miscue on a lap-190 pit stop dropped him outside the top 10 again. Following a mix of pit strategies, Bell restarted 21st with 92 laps remaining and rocketed his way back to the front to lead the final 41 laps on the way to victory lane.
  • RECORD SETTING WIN: Bell’s margin of victory (MOV) at Phoenix Raceway was 5.465 seconds – the largest MOV in the Next Gen era.  Bell topped his own previous record of 5.439 seconds from New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2022.
  • BELL AT BRISTOL: Bell will make his sixth NCS start at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) this weekend. In his previous five starts, he has one pole, two top-five and three top-10 finishes. In the fall of 2023, Bell started on the pole and led a race-high 187 laps on the way to winning both stages before ultimately finishing third. The Oklahoma native also has four NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) starts at BMS, including a win in April 2019 and a runner-up finish in August 2018. Additionally, Bell has three NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series starts at BMS highlighted by a pole and two top-10 finishes.
  • BRISTOL DIRT WINNER: Bell won the dirt race at Bristol last April. After starting fourth, he led the final 100 laps to take home the win and locked himself into the 2023 NASCAR Playoffs.

In 158 combined starts on the concrete oval, the organization has tallied 42 top-five finishes, 63 top-10s, 12 pole awards, and 6,868 laps led. Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth, and Tony Stewart have all won for JGR on Bristol’s concrete layout while Bell and Busch also claimed victories on the dirt track.
  • RACE INFO: The Food City 500 at BMS begins at 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, March 17, 2024. The race will be broadcast live on FOX, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, and PRN Radio.

From the Cockpit:

Christopher Bell: “I love racing at Bristol, it’s literally my favorite race on the schedule, I’m very thankful we get to go twice this year. It’s been a track we have excelled at the last couple of times we have been there, we’ve been close. Bristol is another important race for us; you don’t win the Championship there, but you can definitely lose it if you’re not good. Having a versatile car is the key to a good run at Bristol. We know the bottom will be good because they are spraying the resin down, and we know the top is going to come in at some point, so you have to have a car that can really run both places.”
