Kyle Busch will start on the pole in his first NASCAR XFINITY Series race of the season on Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The Las Vegas native, who captured the Sprint Cup Series championship last season, posted a time of 29.887 seconds, 185.499 mph. in the final round of qualifying. Busch will start on the pole for the 49th time of his XFINITY Series career.
Starting in second will be Busch’s teammate Erik Jones. Jones turned a lap of 29.955 seconds, 185.078 mph. around the 1.54-mile oval. The Michigan native enters the weekend chasing his third career NASCAR XFINITY Series victory. Both of those wins came on 1.5-mile ovals last season.
Daniel Suarez posted the third fastest time behind the wheel of the No. 19 ARRIS Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing. Suarez turned a lap of 29.964 seconds, 185.022 mph. when the final round came to a close. The native from Mexico will chase his first career win in the Heads Up Georgia 250.
Defending winner Kevin Harvick will start the event in 10th. Harvick posted a time of 30.364 seconds, 182.585 mph. in the final round of qualifying.
No drivers went home as 40 teams are featured on the entry list.
