NCTS: Eckes Scores Second Victory of 2024 at Martinsville

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series invaded Martinsville Speedway Friday evening at the track dubbed as “The Paper Clip”. The event serves as the sixth stop on the series calendar in 2024, and the first of two planned visits this year at the Virginia short track.

Ty Majeski started the event on the pole, setting a new track record of 19.417s / 97.523 mph. Christian Eckes, Layne Riggs, Corey Heim, and Nick Sanchez rounded the top five.

Christian Eckes quickly paced the field at the drop of the green flag from the second starting spot. Eckes drove on to win stage one and later claimed stage two in his No. 19 entry for 104 circuits.

Majeski took the front running position away from Eckes on lap 105 to pace the field over the next 49 laps. Sanchez then led a circuit before Majeski took over again for the next 17 trips around the 0.526-mile oval.

With 29 to go, Eckes, searching for his second Craftsman Truck Series victory of 2024, retook the lead from Majeski. The Bristol winner just two races ago then scored his seventh truck victory.

Majeski finished second, followed by Chase Purdy, Nick Sanchez, and Tyler Ankrum.

Eckes will leave the event having 32 top-five and 56 top-10 finishes in 97 career starts. He currently sits sixth in points going into Texas on April 12th.

Top 10 finishers included Taylor Gray, Rajah Caruth, Sammy Smith, Kaden Honeycutt, and Corey Heim.

The Long John Silvers 200 featured 11 cautions with three leaders and five lead changes throughout the running.

Series will head next to Texas Motor Speedway on April 12th. The SpeedyCash.com 250 airs live on FS1 and MRN Radio at 8:30 p.m. ET.
