NXS: Kyle Busch Captures DAV 200 Pole

Kyle Busch captured the pole on Saturday for the DAV 200 at the Phoenix International Raceway. The Las Vegas native posted a time and speed of 25.992 seconds, 138.504 mph. when the final round came to a close. Busch enters the weekend looking to capture his eighth career XFINITY Series win at the one-mile oval in the desert.

Austin Dillon will start right beside Busch in the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing. Dillon finished the final round of qualifying 0.275 seconds behind the pole winner. The North Carolina native enters the weekend with three top five and five top 10 finishes at the track. Dillon has an average finish there of 9.5.

Erik Jones will round out the top three qualifiers on Saturday. Jones posted a time and speed of 26.277 seconds, 137.002 mph. when the session came to a close. The Michigan native comes into the day looking to capture his first NASCAR XFINITY Series win at the one-mile oval.

Point leader Chris Buescher will start ahead of defending champion Chase Elliott when the field goes green on Saturday afternoon. Buescher will start in seventh while Elliott will start in 12th. The two drivers are separated by 24 points entering Phoenix.

Two drivers went home after qualifying as 42 drivers appeared on the entry list. Those two drivers will be Matt Waltz and Morgan Shepherd. Waltz did not post a single lap in the session after smacking the wall in round one of qualifying.
