NXS: Daniel Suarez Captures Kentucky Pole

Daniel Suarez captured his third career NASCAR XFINITY Series pole at the Kentucky Speedway on Saturday in his No. 18 ARRIS Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing. Suarez posted a time and speed of 30.024 seconds, 179.856 mph. in the final round of knockout qualifying. The native from Mexico will make his 29th career start in the series.

Brian Scott will take the green flag in the runner-up position in his No. 2 Shore Lodge Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing. Scott finished the final session of qualifying 0.168 seconds behind the pole sitter. The 27-year old from Idaho continues to search for his first career XFINITY Series win.

Regan Smith will start the 300-mile event in the third starting position. Smith toured the Kentucky Speedway with a time of 30.215 seconds, 178.719 mph. in the final round of knockout qualifying. The New York native enters the weekend looking to capture his first win of the 2015 season.

Chris Buescher will start the race in the ninth position behind the wheel of the No. 60 AdvoCare Ford. Buescher enters the race leading the series standings by 25 points over Ty Dillon. Dillon will start the race in the fourth position.

Drew Herring qualified the No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota for Erik Jones in the 10th starting position. Herring helped the Joe Gibbs Racing organization practice and qualify the car while Jones competed in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at New Hampshire. The No. 54 Toyota will have to start at the tail end of the field for a driver change.

There were no incidents throughout the three rounds of knockout qualifying. Mario Gosselin will not make the race in his No. 92 Chevrolet.
