NXS: Boyd Gaming 300 Race Preview

JOPLIN, Mo. – The NASCAR XFINITY Series heads west for the 19th annual Boyd Gaming 300 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Saturday’s event will serve as the third stop of the 2015 season for the series. Brad Keselowski, who isn’t entered to participate on Saturday, is the defending race winner.

A total of 42 drivers are entered into the Boyd Gaming 300. Some of these drivers include Derek White, Cody Ware, Daniel Suarez, Mike Bliss, Erik Jones, Ryan Blaney, John Wes Townley, Austin Dillon, Brennan Poole, Denny Hamlin, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Mario Gosselin, Dexter Bean and Aric Almirola. Two drivers will go home after qualifying on Saturday.

Brennan Poole will make his NASCAR XFINITY Series debut on Saturday at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The debut will even mark his first NASCAR sanctioned event inside the NASCAR national series. Poole, driving for HScott Motorsports With Chip Ganassi Racing, has 35 career starts in the ARCA Racing Series. Of those starts, Poole holds six victories, 18 top-five and 27 top-10 finishes. He started on the pole four different times.

Brennan Gaughan will enter the Boyd Gaming 300 on Saturday as the hometown kid. Gaughan, a native from the Las Vegas area, will make his 120th career XFINITY Series start at his home track and continues to search for his third career victory. His last win came last season at the Kentucky Speedway, a track much similar to Las Vegas. He holds 11 career top-five and 29 top-10 finishes.

Denny Hamlin will sub for Kyle Busch this weekend as he continues to recover from injuries suffered at the Daytona International Speedway. Hamlin comes into the weekend with 142 career starts in the XFINITY Series. His last start came at the Chicagoland Speedway last season, bringing home a finish of 32nd after losing an engine. Hamlin will pilot the No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota in three other races.

Fans can watch the Boyd Gaming 300 live on FOX Sports 1 at 4:00 p.m. Et. on Saturday. The Performance Racing Network will carry the live radio broadcast of the event.
