NNS: Phoenix International Raceway Preview

The NASCAR Nationwide Series will head to the Phoenix International Raceway for the 16th annual DAV 200. This event marks race 32 of the 33 scheduled events for the Nationwide Series tour in 2014. Kyle Busch, who will be racing the No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota on Saturday, enters the weekend as the defending race winner.

Some of the drivers entered into the race include: Alex Bowman, Erik Jones, Brad Keselowski, Mackena Bell, John Wes Townley, Kelly Admiraal, Brennan Newberry, Chad Boat and TJ Bell. With 41 total drivers on the entry list, one driver will be going home following qualifying on Saturday.

Alex Bowman will be making his second NASCAR Nationwide Series start with JR Motorsports after a fantastic weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in October. Bowman started the event from seventh and finished the night in 12th. The start this weekend will mark his third race in the NASCAR Nationwide Series this season. The 18-year-old will have sponsorship funding from LINE-X liners on his No. 5 Chevrolet.

Chase Elliott is currently on the path to become the youngest championship winner of the three NASCAR National Series. Elliott enters the one-mile Phoenix International Raceway leading the Nationwide Series standings by 48 over teammate Regan Smith. If he is able to leave the race with a 48 or more points lead, Elliott will clinch the title. The 18-year-old has driven to three victories, 15 top-five and 25 top-10 finishes through 31 races.

Erik Jones will make his third NASCAR Nationwide Series start of the season in the No. 20 Gamestop Toyota. Jones is already having the weekend of his life as he announced a full-time ride on Thursday with Kyle Busch Motorsports over in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for 2015. The announcement also included that Jones will compete in 10-plus Nationwide races in 2015 for the Joe Gibbs Racing organization. The 18-year-old will be racing double-duty this weekend.
