NNS: Kyle Busch Wins Gunfight to Claim Texas Motor Speedway Win

Kyle Busch stole the show on Saturday afternoon at the Texas Motor Speedway after leading 116 of the 200 laps that made up the race distance. Busch captured his 70th career Nationwide Series win and the 100th for Joe Gibbs Racing. The 29-year-old found himself leading six different times during the event. By winning Friday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event, and capturing the win in Saturday’s Nationwide Series race, Busch heads into the Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday looking to sweep the weekend.

Coming home in second was Joey Logano after giving Busch a run for his money all afternoon long. Logano started the 300-mile event from the pole position and fell shy of the victory by 1.562 seconds. Logano continues to look for his first career victory in the Nationwide Series competition in 2014.

Ryan Blaney, who made his 13th start of the year in the Nationwide Series, will leave the Texas Motor Speedway with a third-place finishing effort. Blaney started the afternoon from fifth but wasn’t able to get high enough to lead a lap during the day. It marks his ninth top-five finish during the 2014 season.

Elliott Sadler, who became very ill over night with a stomach virus, had to step out of his No. 11 Toyota for qualifying. Sadler then had to start the race at the rear of the field for a driver change before the drop of the green flag. Once the first caution was displayed just seven laps into the event, Sadler came down pit road so Clint Bowyer could hop into the car. Bowyer then took the No. 11 Toyota to a ninth-place finish.

Trevor Bayne found himself leading the race early on but ran into some bad luck later. On lap 48, Bayne either blew a tire, an engine or an oil line that caught the car on fire. He started the race from second and finished with a 36th-place finish.

The next race for the NASCAR Nationwide Series will be at the Phoenix International Raceway for the ServiceMaster 200. Coverage will begin on ESPN2 and on the Motor Racing Network at 4:00 p.m. Et.
