Dover, Broad Valley Micro Fiber Networks reach deal to upgrade Monster Mile’s digital network

Dover International Speedway has reached an agreement with Broad Valley Micro Fiber Networks to upgrade digital capabilities at the Monster Mile, track officials announced today.

The deal includes plans for expanded Wi-Fi access in many areas of Speedway grounds, allowing fans to be better connected while on the property, as well as tighter security networks for customer transactions and improved operational efficiencies.

Work is scheduled to be complete by the May 13-15 NASCAR tripleheader weekend at Dover International Speedway, featuring the “AAA 400 Drive for Autism” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday, May 15.

“We’re looking forward to this update to our facility,” said Mike Tatoian, Dover International Speedway’s president and CEO. “Like everyone, our fans want to be connected to their phones and other devices at all times. These upgrades will allow our guests to enjoy their personal technology while still being in the middle of all the great activities around the track during our race weekends.”

Upon project completion, mobile apps will work more efficiently throughout the Speedway grounds, allowing guests to save money on their cellular data plans. In addition, transaction time at food and merchandise outlets will decrease, audio from all devices will be improved, and guests can feel secure about any online activity, thanks to a stronger security network.

“Being part of this new infrastructure deployment at the Monster Mile is a thrill for our whole team, as we anticipate the huge impact it will have on the fan experience and business productivity at the track,” said Broad Valley founder and CEO Peter D. Aquino. “Our work at Dover to build a new wireless mesh network that will deliver faster speeds and broader reach will be a huge upgrade. We are leap-frogging the Dover operations immediately into the modern digital era to match or exceed what others have been doing in stadiums and outdoor venues across the globe.”

Aquarius Sports and Entertainment was one of Broad Valley’s advisors for the Dover International Speedway advance network project, and will continue to explore similar opportunities to significantly improve broadband performance across motorsports and other large venues for Broad Valley Micro Fiber Networks.

The May 13-15 NASCAR tripleheader weekend at the Monster Mile also includes the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Friday, May 13 and the NASCAR XFINITY Series Dash 4 Cash race on Saturday, May 14.
