The Circle K Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola history book is chocked full of moments and memories to last a lifetime.
Since its inception more than 20 years ago, the staple event in uptown Charlotte has commemorated the May races at Charlotte Motor Speedway with spectacular family-oriented activities including an estimated 320 driver appearances and 100 award-winning musicians.
The 2018 event was no exception. Take a look at the last three days of countless experiences.
- 250,000 – Over the course of three days, an estimated 250,000 attended Circle K Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola.
- $30,000 – Circle K recognized 30 local students with $1,000 scholarships.
- 11,000 – The approximate number of tasty White Castle burgers sold over three days.
- $10,000 – Coca-Cola Consolidated donated 20 $500 gift cards to the twenty teachers who were chosen as finalists in Circle K’s “A Driving Force for Education” contest.
- 1,480-linear feet of space encompassed the 2018 festival footprint. That’s five city blocks and Romare Bearden Park.
- 40 – More than 40 interactive displays from sponsors including Circle K, Coca-Cola, GEICO, North Carolina Education Lottery, PNC Bank, Vacation Village Resorts, HARIBO Gummy Candy, Swisher Sweets and more adorned Tryon Street.
- 35 – More than 35 drivers from a variety of racing series participated in autograph sessions and/or question-and-answer sessions.
- 33 – Guests attending the three-day event enjoyed thirty-three hours of entertainment.
- 23 – The event has been promoted and produced exclusively by CSM Production for 23 years.
- 22 – Twenty-two musical performances occurred with more than 21 hours of live music.
- 5 – Throughout May, the 600 Festival delivered five events to celebrate motorsports in the Charlotte region. In addition to Circle K Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola, fans enjoyed Movies on the Campus in Kannapolis on May 4; the Zucchini 600 in Kannapolis May 5; Haulers on Union Parade and Fan Fest presented by Freightliner in Concord May 17; and the Little 600 at GoPro Motorplex in Mooresville May 22.
- 1 – One Toyota Camry was awarded to Gerald “Todd” Statome from East Mecklenburg High School as the winner of Circle K’s “A Driving Force for Education” contest. Statome teaches world history, IB philosophy and AP comparative government.
