Scott Sheldon, No. 20 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet Daytona International Speedway Pre-Race Report

ALLEGIANT ON BOARD: GMS Racing is proud to welcome Allegiant Travel back to the team, as the brand will sponsor Sheldon’s No. 20 Chevrolet Impala for the season opening ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards event at Daytona International Speedway. Allegiant Travel will once again sponsor teammate Spencer Gallagher’s full-time efforts during the 2014 season.

ROOKIE STRIPE: Sheldon will make his ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards debut this weekend at Daytona. The driver cut his teeth racing legend cars and late models on the West Coast.

DAYTONA TESTING: Sheldon turned his first laps in an ARCA stock car during the December open test session at the legendary 2.5-mile superspeedway. Putting up consistent times throughout his two days at the track, ARCA officials invited Sheldon back for his debut race.

EYES IN THE SKY: NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Joey Coulter will spot for Sheldon during his Daytona debut. Coulter, an ARCA Racing Series veteran, will guide and coach his driver through the ins and outs of plate racing. In addition, Coulter’s Truck Series team will crew Sheldon’s Allegiant Chevrolet.

CHASSIS INFORMATION: Sheldon will compete in Chassis No. 782 at Daytona. This Chevrolet Impala was driven by Spencer Gallagher three previous times – twice at Daytona in 2012 and 2013 respectively, and once at Talladega Superspeedway in 2012.

SCOTT SHELDON QUOTE: “I’m really excited to be making my ARCA Racing Series debut at Daytona International Speedway. The track is historic to stock car auto racing and it’s an honor to join the group of drivers who have competed on its surface. Having the chance to test with GMS Racing in December boosted my confidence heading into this week’s race. Many thanks go out to Allegiant Travel and GMS Racing for supporting my efforts to race.”
