The Stretch Run … The final third of the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) regular season and the stretch run to the owners’ points playoffs is out the windshield for Jack Wood and the No. 91 team. The Californian has a prime opportunity to build on his best finish of the season a week ago at North Wilkesboro Speedway (NWS) and tighten his grip on a potential owners’ point playoff position Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS). The driver of the No. 91 Cometic Gasket / Klotz Synthetics Chevrolet RST looks to elevate his performance on Friday at CMS and take a step closer to the seven-race playoff.

Home Asphalt … The 1.5-mile showplace of CMS serves as a home race for most NCTS teams, including Wood and MHR as the track is located 46 miles across town from the team’s shop in Statesville, N.C. Friday marks Wood’s fourth NCTS start at CMS and he scored a top-15 finish in his Queen City debut in 2021. He also has a pair of top-10 results at CMS in the ARCA Menards Series. The No. 91 team has recorded an impressive streak in recent events as Wood and teammate Zane Smith have combined for three finishes of 12th or better in the last four races. The two drivers have also tallied four top-15 results in the last six races. In the series’ most recent race at a 1.5-mile track at Kansas Speedway, Smith led 29 laps and finished second after claiming a stage win.

Season to Date … Wood has raced six of the 10 events run thus far in 2024. His best finish came last week at NWS where he finished 12th and banked 34 points. The No. 91 team has collected three top-five and four top-10 results this season and sits 10th in the NCTS owners’ point standings with a 42-point cushion on the provisional cut line.

Tune In … Wood and the NCTS competitors have a one-day show at CMS on Friday, live on FOX Sports 1 (FS1). Coverage begins at 1:30 p.m. ET on FS1 with practice and qualifying, followed by NASCAR Raceday at 8:00 p.m. ET and the green flag at 8:30 p.m. ET. Jack Wood Quote:

On making his fourth start at Charlotte:

“I feel like I have a lot of experience at Charlotte between the trucks and ARCA cars. That definitely gives you some confidence and comfort. Our Cometic Gasket / Klotz team executed a pretty smooth day at North Wilkesboro last week, so hopefully we can do that again Friday. Kevin (Bellicourt) and the guys have had some really fast trucks on the mile-and-a-half’s this year, so I think we’ll have some good speed again when we unload. We’re in a good position in the points right now, but there’s a long way to go and we want to be a consistent top-10 team each week.”
