NCWTS: Las Vegas Motor Speedway preview

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will roll the dice right into the Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend. The event, which will mark the 18th annual Rhino Linings 350, will mark the 17th stop of the year for the tour. It holds as the furthest race out west for the series.

Some of the drivers you’ll see this weekend, include: Brian Ickler, Jimmy Weller, Ron Hornaday Jr., Tyler Reddick, Jason White, Spencer Gallagher, Taylor Malsam, Charles Lewandoski and Erik Jones.

Last weekend out at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Cole Custer became the youngest winner in the top-three NASCAR national series. At Loudon, Custer captured the pole and posted a new track record, led 148 of the 175 laps and held off the defending champion Matt Crafton to capture the win. Back in June at the Gateway Motorsports Park, Custer made history by being the youngest pole winner in NASCAR. He has two races remaining on this year’s calender, which will be at the Martinsville Speedway and the Phoenix Raceway.

The points continue to be stalled after last weekend’s event at Loudon. Matt Crafton and Johnny Sauter, who are both teammates at ThorSport Racing, head into the Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a seven point gap. Ryan Blaney, who sits in the third spot, currently sits 17-points behind Sauter in second. This weekend will certainly be interesting to see how the points will shake out.

Timothy Peters will head into Las Vegas as the defending race winner and looks to score a back-to-back victory on Saturday. Peters, who is winless in 2014, comes into the weekend with four top-10 finishes in six starts at the 1.5-mile oval. The last time that the driver finished inside the top-five was in July at the Kentucky Speedway.

You can watch the Rhino Linings 350 at 10:00 p.m. Et. on FOX Sports 1. The Motor Racing Network will carrly the live radio broadcast of the race.
