Timothy Peters will start on the pole for the Fred’s 250 at the Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday. Peters posted a time and speed of 53.706 seconds, 178.304 mph. in the final round of knockout qualifying. The North Carolina native captured his eighth career Camping World Truck Series pole on Saturday at the 2.66-mile oval.
Starting beside Peters will be John Wes Townley in the No. 05 Zaxby’s Toyota. Townley enters the weekend with momentum after scoring the win two weekends ago at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Georgia native ended the final round 0.072 seconds behind the pole winner.
Erik Jones will start the Fred’s 250 in the third starting position when the field goes green on Saturday afternoon. Jones enters the weekend looking for a good run as he leads the driver standings by four points over Matt Crafton. Crafton ended the final round as the seventh fastest driver.
Two trucks will go home after 34 appeared on the entry list. Those two will be Andy Seuss and Ryan Ellis.
