NXS: U.S. Cellular 250 Preview

The NASCAR XFINITY Series rolls right into the 0.875-mile Iowa Speedway for the seventh annual U.S. Cellular 250. The race marks the 19th stop on the series calendar and the second at the Iowa Speedway. Brad Keselowski, who is not featured on the entry list, won the event last August.

There are 40 drivers featured on the entry list. Some of these include Derek White, Anthony Kumpen, Kenny Wallace, Ryan Blaney, Dylan Lupton, Matt Wallace, Brandon Jones, Brennan Poole, Erik Jones, Zachary Bruenger, Ben Rhodes and Johanna Long.

Kenny Wallace will take one last NASCAR XFINITY Series ride on Saturday at the Iowa Speedway. Wallace has 898 starts across the three national series coming into his final race. The 51-year old has nine wins, 66 top five and 173 top 10 finishes over the course of his career in the XFINITY Series.

The final start is not a sad moment for the Missouri native.

“To me, this isn’t a sad moment,” Wallace said. “I’m at a truly happy place in my life right now. I’ve had a long and successful career, and I’ve been able to support my family doing what I love. To me, it doesn’t get any better than that. I’m really proud of everything that I’ve been able to accomplish in NASCAR.”

Chase Elliott has been slowly eating away at Chris Buescher’s points lead as the series heads into the upper Midwest. Elliott, who is the defending series champion, comes into the weekend sitting 25 points behind Buescher. Last week Elliott brought home a 10th-place run while Buescher brought home a 16th-place finish. The two drivers were separated by 31 points going into Indianapolis.

Daniel Suarez leads the Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings by 15 points over Darrell Wallace Jr. Suarez comes into the weekend still looking for his first career win after some impressive runs. The native from Mexico has four top five and eight top 10 finishes through the first 18 races.

Fans can watch the U.S. Cellular 250 on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET. on NBCSN. The Motor Racing Network will have the live radio broadcast.
