Delta Commercial, IMCA to Sponsor Victor Gonzales, RAB Racing in NASCAR Nationwide Series Race at Road America

At a press conference held in the Dominican Republic, RAB Racing with Brack Maggard and driver Victor Gonzales, Jr., announced a partnership with Delta Commercial and IMCA for the NASCAR Nationwide Series Sargento 200 on June 23 at Road America.

Gonzalez Jr., the first Puerto Rican driver to compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, finished 14th in his debut in the 2009 running of the NAPA 200 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada. The 36-year-old driver will make his second start at Road America behind the wheel of the No. 99 Delta Commercial/IMCA Toyota Camry.

“This is a great opportunity for me to race with a team like RAB Racing and have support from Toyota,” said Gonzalez Jr. “Myself and Robby (Benton, team owner) have been working hard to put a deal together, and we were finally able to do that thanks to the support of Delta Commercial and IMCA. It’s a great feeling when you know you’ve got a chance to race with strong equipment and people.”

“I’m very happy to be able to partner with IMCA and Delta Commercial for this event,” said Robby Benton, owner of RAB Racing. We have been working to put a program together for Victor for quite some time so we can showcase his talent. I’ve been to the Dominican Republic a few times to meet with everyone and I’m pleased to be able to partner with such great people. Victor has a tremendous following there and we’re looking forward to exposing his fan base to NASCAR.”

Gonzalez Jr., has won over 30 races and multiple championships in various road racing classes in his native Puerto Rico. After making his Nationwide Series debut at Montreal in 2009, Gonzales Jr. made four additional starts in NASCAR’s junior division in 2010.
