Spencer Gallagher No.23 Allegiant Chevrolet Camaro Pocono NXS Recap

Pocono Recap:
Spencer Gallagher and the No. 23 Allegiant crew started from the 14th position in Saturday afternoon’s NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) Pocono Green 250 at Pocono Raceway.

Gallagher reported to crew chief Joey Cohen early in the race that he was experiencing a tight condition through the center and exit of the corners causing him to drop back into the 18th position. Gallagher came to pit road multiple times during the 100-lap race, including a stop under green-flag conditions on lap 63 for fuel only, returning to the field in the 28th position. Under the third caution of the race on lap 80, Cohen made the call for Gallagher to stay out to gain track position, placing Gallagher in the ninth position for the restart on lap 84. Gallagher fell back into the 28th position after the restart when the cars behind him pitted and put on fresh tires. Gallagher battled until the end when he crossed the start/finish line in the 18th position.

Quote:
“We had a really solid Allegiant Chevrolet this weekend at Pocono (Raceway). We gambled on tires there at the end that hurt us, but battled back to finish 18th. I am seeing improvement each weekend with this GMS Racing team and that always gives me hope going into the next race. We will just take what we learned this weekend and build on it for next weekend’s race at Michigan (International Speedway).

Additional Info:

– Gallagher is 18th in driver points and 26th owner point standings.
