Garrett Smithley turned in a steady race in his first appearance at Iowa Speedway, finishing 22nd in Sunday’s American Ethanol E15 250 Xfinity Series race.
Smithley qualified 24th and raced in the high 20s all afternoon.
The run lifted Smithley one spot to 18th place in the Xfinity driver standings.
“We had a good car and got a pretty good run with it,” Smithley said. “The track is unusual – a different size and different banking from what I’m used to, but it’s a fun place. A good day for us for the first time out here.”
Smithley, a rookie in the series, drove the CorvetteParts.net/Flex Seal Chevrolet.
