Oberto Beef Jerky Joins JGR No. 18 XFINITY Series and Driver Matt Tifft in Dover

Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) announced today a partnership with Oberto Beef Jerky, as primary sponsor of the team’s No. 18 Camry in the NASCAR XFINITY Series at Dover International Speedway with driver Matt Tifft.  Oberto Brands is a family-owned business that makes meat snacks including all natural jerky and other meat snacks. The company was founded in 1918 by Constantino Oberto in Seattle, Washington.  Headquartered in Kent, Washington, Oberto Brands sells products under the Oberto, Oberto Classics, Lowrey’s Meat Snacks, Pacific Gold, and Cattleman’s Cut brands.

“We are excited about our relationship with Joe Gibbs Racing to put the number 18 Oberto Toyota Camry on the track.  Our customers, especially race fans, continue to look for healthy snacking options.  Oberto All Natural Jerky delivers a high protein, healthier snacking option without artificial ingredients and preservatives.  At Oberto, we believe ‘You Get Out What You Put In’ and look forward to fueling Matt in Dover,” states Chris Brann, Oberto Brand’s Director of Emerging Businesses & International Development.  Brann continues, “Matt joins this year’s line-up of athletes that include Richard Sherman, Rob Gronkowski, Hunter Pence, and Travis Pastrana.  With a proven winner like Joe Gibbs Racing and with Matt (Tifft) in the seat, we know our Oberto Beef Jerky program will be successful.”

With five XFINTY Series starts that include a top-ten result, 21 laps led and a pole-win already this season, young JGR driver Tifft remarked, “I’m pumped to have this opportunity with Oberto Beef Jerky at Dover. Hopefully we’ll get them some good exposure and I like the Dover track, so it’s going to be a good race weekend for us.”

Tifft made his NASCAR debut in 2013 with the K&N West and East Series, after gaining race experience in the ARCA and X-1R Pro Cup Series. In only two recent seasons and six total career races, Tifft is showing he will become a strong competitor in the XFINITY Series. In addition to his new XFINITY Series career, the 19-year old has competed in 16 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events with six top-10 results recorded.  Tifft will run ‘double-duty’ this weekend running both the Camping World Truck and XFINITY Series races around Dover’s one-mile oval.

The No. 18 team’s goal is to capture an Owner’s Championship in the XFINITY Series this season. With veteran JGR drivers Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin confirmed in the schedule and with Tifft engaging his No. 18 team races now, the group sits third in the standings, only nine points from first place. Crew chief Chris Gayle is still eager to attack that goal and remarks, “Owners points matter and it’s important for us to keep striving for that team goal. We are looking forward to having Oberto Beef Jerky with Joe Gibbs Racing this week and hopefully we are able to give them a victory lane visit. Matt is learning quickly and it’s only a matter of time before he takes that next step.”
