Matt Kenseth will start on the pole for the Kansas Lottery 300 at the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway on Saturday afternoon. Kenseth captured his first pole of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season in 2015 and continues to seek his first win of the year. The Wisconsin driver posted a time and speed of 29.204 seconds, 184.906 mph. in the final round.
Chris Buescher comes into the weekend looking to extend his points lead over defending champion Chase Elliott. Buescher will have a good start on Saturday after qualifying in the second starting position. The Texas product comes into the weekend with three victories, 11 top five and 19 top 10 finishes.
Regan Smith will take the green in the third starting position when the Kansas Lottery 300 gets underway. Smith posted a time and speed of 29.359 seconds, 183.930 mph. in the final round. The New York driver comes into the Kansas Speedway looking to capture his second win of the year.
Kyle Busch ended the final round of qualifying in the fourth position. The Las Vegas native will be dangerous all afternoon long as he comes into the weekend looking to capture his fifth win of the year.
Chase Elliott spun in the final round of knockout qualifying that caused heavy damage to his No. 9 Chevrolet. Elliott and his No. 9 NAPA Auto Parts team has decided to switch to a backup ride. They will have to start the race at the rear of the field.
No drivers will go home after qualifying on Saturday as only 40 drivers and teams showed up.
