Elliott and NAPA Team Ready to Strike While Iron is Hot

Confidence and positivity are contagious attributes in racing. When NAPA AUTO PARTS driver Chase Elliott drove to victory lane at Richmond International Raceway (RIR) last week, confidence and positivity were the themes of the night. Elliott became the first series regular to win at RIR in 11 years. Now time is fleeting, and it’s up to Elliott and the No. 9 team to keep the ball rolling as the NASCAR XFINITY Series makes its second of two annual appearances at Chicagoland Speedway.

The win at Richmond wasn’t the only reason for celebration during the weekend. Elliott also drove to victory at Montgomery (Ala.) Motor Speedway in late model competition for the second time this year. But now the focus shifts back to NXS competition and Chicagoland Speedway, where Elliott notched a victory in July of 2014.

If last weekend was any indication, the NAPA AUTO PARTS team has returned to championship form, gaining 14 points on leader Chris Buescher with the victory and lurking within 21 points of the prized top spot. In its last five outings, the NAPA team has reeled off three top-fives, four top-10s and led 110 laps. That’s the type of momentum boost that couldn’t come at a better time for Elliott, as only eight races remain in the 2015 season.
