Good news for NASCAR fans in three markets!
Nexstar announced Wednesday that three of its stations will be switching to The CW affiliations beginning September 1st.
The three television markets include WGN-TV Chicago, IL, WVBT-TV Norfolk, VA, and KLFY-TV Lafayette, LA.
The number of Nexstar-CW affiliations now jumps to 42 across the United States, covering more than 36 percent of U.S. television households, per Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division.
“As The CW’s #1 affiliate group, Nexstar is very pleased to be bringing the network’s programming to these stations this fall, especially with NASCAR Xfinity series racing and the WWE’s NXT joining a very robust lineup of sports programming, including LIV Golf and ACC college football and basketball,” Alford stated in Nexstar’s release. “Adding the CW’s programming to them will offer advertisers a variety of new linear and digital opportunities to reach millions of viewers.”
NASCAR, in conjunction with broadcast partner NBC, announced a few weeks back that The CW would televise the final eight NASCAR XFINITY Series races this season. NBC will still produce these eight events with NBC personalities calling the action. Representatives from The CW told SpeedwayDigest.com that practice and qualifying sessions for the final eight events in 2024 would remain on NBC channels.
