No. 81 QuickTie Toyota GR Supra News and Notes:

SMITH AT TALLADEGA: Chandler Smith has six NASCAR starts at Talladega Superspeedway – two in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) and four in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS).
TEXAS RECAP: Smith started last weekend’s race at Texas Motor Speedway in fourth place and took the lead on lap two. The No. 81 QuickTie Toyota GR Supra led the next 26 laps, before losing the lead to Justin Allgaier, and finished Stage 1 in second place. Towards the end of the second stage, the No. 81 sustained damage on the nose after contact with another car so the team stayed on pit road during the stage break to attempt to fix the damage. The car struggled with handling the remainder of the race and Smith finished in 15th.
QUICKTIE: Quick Tie Products, Inc., (“QuickTie”) manufactures and distributes the QuickTie™ System, a proprietary, patented hold down system for high wind and seismic construction. The QuickTie™ System comprises wire rope cables with threaded rod studs swaged to each end, each with a steel bearing plate on the top end. Their cables are designed to cinch walls to their foundations from the uppermost top plates, thereby effectively resisting roof uplift and building overturning pressures. QuickTie also manufactures hangers, hold downs, plywood clips and all structural building components.
ON THE PITBOX: Crew Chief of the No. 81, Jeff Meendering, has visited Victory Lane 10 times as a NXS crew chief, most recently with Smith at Richmond in March 2024. His teams have collected 65 top-five finishes, 132 top-10 finishes, and 13 pole positions under his leadership.
JGR AT TALLADEGA: Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) has five NXS victories, 18 top-fives, 28 top-10s, 389 laps led, and five poles in 72 combined starts at Talladega Superspeedway. Mike McLaughlin, Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, and Elliott Sadler have each taken JGR to victory lane once at NASCAR’s largest oval, with the most recent win coming with Sadler in 2014.

From the Driver’s Seat:

Chandler Smith: “We’re putting last weekend behind us and hopefully our bad luck at Texas turns to good luck at Talladega. Talladega is tough because you never know what is going to happen there. I know we can get a good finish based on Daytona and Atlanta earlier this year, but we’ve got to put ourselves in good positions and stay out of the wrecks.”
