Earnhardt testing strength at Charlotte

Jeffrey Earnhardt will race this weekend at the track where his famous grandfather, seven-time Sprint Cup champion Dale Earnhardt, made his Cup debut.

Dale Earnhardt raced for the first time in what would become the Sprint Cup Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway May 25, 1975. He finished 22nd in a Dodge.

Jeffrey Earnhardt has run in three Nationwide events at the 1.5-mile track.

“It’s a track I know something about, so I’m hoping we can get a good finish this week,” Earnhardt said. “We’re looking to break into the top 15 and get a good stretch going for the summer.”

Earnhardt finished 23rd last week at Iowa Speedway and is 15th in the Nationwide driver standings.

Earnhardt will ride this week with sponsorship from Flex Shot, a super-thick rubber sealant that caulks, bonds and seals virtually everything. Flex Shot can fill huge cracks and holes and is much easier to use than bulky caulking guns.
