Levine Family Racing expands NASCAR program by adding Nationwide series team

Leavine Family Racing (LFR) announced today that it has expanded its role within NASCAR competition. The third-year, Concord, N.C.-based organization with headquarters in Tyler, Texas will field a single-car NASCAR Nationwide Series team out of its Concord shop in addition to its NASCAR Sprint Cup Series program.

The team will continue to further its relationship with Ford Racing and enter the No. 95 Ford Mustang in the Nationwide Series.

Leavine Family Racing is finalizing its driver for the 2014 season, and currently will enter two of the 2013 season’s Nationwide Series final four races, beginning at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Oct. 11. Reed Sorenson, from Peachtree City, Ga., will drive the No. 95 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway and Michael McDowell, from Glendale, Ariz., will be behind the wheel at Texas Motor Speedway on Nov. 2.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled about our expansion this season,” said Bob Leavine, owner of Leavine Family Racing. “Our program is an independent team, but we have potential – and with an infusion of sponsorship, perhaps a lot more than that.”

The team had a two-car operation in 2012, fielding the No. 95 in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and No. 95 in the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) Racing Series.

In the team’s three years in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Leavine Family Racing has started the No. 95 in 35 events, driven by various drivers across the calendar, giving the new team strong finishes and helping to establish its foundation in NASCAR. The team has accumulated two Top-15s, one Top-10 and a best finish of ninth at Talladega Super Speedway.
