TriStar Motorsports Notes & Quotes Kentucky

Road Trip! (@TriStarRaceTeam):

TriStar Motorsports will hit the highway this week; destination, the hills of Kentucky. The drivers and their crews have been working feverishly to prepare for Friday night’s Feed the Children 300 at Kentucky’s 1.5-mile tri-oval.

Bliss, Kentucky has Character (@MikeBliss19):

Mike Bliss may have hit a couple bumps in the road the past two races, but he is looking forward to getting back to the basics at Kentucky Speedway.

“Kentucky is a fast and relatively flat track. I like Kentucky, with all the bumps and dips it really gives it character,” said Bliss. “The track is pretty wide as well; so of course you want to qualify well, but if you don’t you have room to run three or four wide.”

Bliss will make his 10th career start at Kentucky Speedway; he has earned one top five and three top-10’s. Bliss’ best finish in the Bluegrass State came in 2004 when he placed 3rd.

Green, Close to Home:

Owensboro, Kentucky native, Jeff Green will make his fifth start at his home track for the Feed the Children 300. Just over 150-miles from his hometown, Green will enjoy the comforts of home.

“Kentucky is an older surface, but a great track to go to as a driver and fan. No, I am not just saying that because it’s my home track” said Green “But, It feels good to not have to travel far to the race track this weekend.”

Green’s best finish at Kentucky came in 2010 when he placed 20th.

McClure Looking for Progress under the Lights (@ericmcclure):

Like his teammate Mike Bliss, Eric McClure has raced many laps at Kentucky Speedway. McClure will make his ninth start for Friday night’s Feed the Children 300. Racing a car that last saw Michigan International Speedway, McClure hopes his momentum from the fall race in Kentucky carries over to this weekend.

“Kentucky has always been a tough place for me, but last year we ran very well there,” said McClure. “It seemed to be the race that spring boarded our competiveness for the rest of the season and it was like we were a whole new team. I am hoping we can go back this year and have similar results,” continued McClure.

The 13th Annual Feed the Children 300 will be McClure’s 214th NASCAR Nationwide Series event. The Virginia driver’s best finish at Kentucky Speedway came in the fall of 2012 when he placed 22nd.

Whitt, Morale Booster (@ColeWhitt):

After his eighth place finish at Road America last weekend, Cole Whitt and his No. 44 team are energized and ready for Kentucky Speedway. Whitt and his team have been on an uphill swing with their racing efforts over the past few weeks; they’re hungry for more as the Feed the Children 300 approaches.

“Kentucky is a fast and bumpy track; making your car handle the bumps is essential. Last year I learned a lot about the track and what to expect, so I hope to capitalize on that and finish well,” said Whitt. “My team has been working really hard and we have a lot of momentum going into Friday’s race.”

Whitt will make his third start at the 1.5-mile tri-oval; with his best finish being sixth at the fall race in 2012.
