No. 54 Monster Energy Kentucky Speedway NNS Preview

This will be a busy weekend for NASCAR veteran Kyle Busch who is entered in all three NASCAR series events at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, a 1.5-mile oval where the younger Busch has seen much success. Busch has accomplished three victories at Kentucky Speedway, one in each of NASCAR’s top divisions, including inaugural events for Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series. In fact, Busch is the only NASCAR driver to have pulled off a win in all three national series events in one weekend, accomplishing the record in August 2010 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. In 2011 Busch almost pulled off the feat again, at Kentucky Speedway, where he won the Sprint Cup and Truck Series races and finished third in the Nationwide Series event.

This weekend Busch will once again tackle three consecutive events racing Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights in the heat of the Kentucky Bluegrass. Overall Busch has one win (2004), three top-five finishes and 311 laps led in the Nationwide Series at the 13-year old facility. In 27 races, Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) in the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Kentucky Speedway records three wins, 10 top-five finishes, 13 top-10 finishes, four poles and 567 laps led. The JGR No. 54 Monster Energy team has already earned six series wins this season and look to accomplish their next victory, under the lights Friday with their driver, the most decorated winner in the history of the NASCAR Nationwide Series, and a three-time visitor to victory lane at Kentucky.
