Mike Wallace Darlington Preview

Fresh off a 7th place finish at Talladega, Mike Wallace and the No. 01 team will head to historic Darlington Raceway in South Carolina for the VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 on Friday, May 10th. The race is a homecoming of sorts for JD Motorsports, with the team located in nearby Gaffney, SC.

Although finishing last week’s race inside the top-10, the car was involved in a last lap crash and will be scrapped by the team. Wallace was escorted to the care center, but cleared and released.

Wallace will be piloting JDM Chassis 007. This Chevy, last run at Bristol Motor Speedway in March, will be tuned and set up for NASCAR’s first superspeedway. The 1.3 mile facility has often been called the “Lady in Black” and “The Track Too Tough To Tame” for its’ abrasive surface and tough racing.

Wallace has experienced success at the track in the past, including two top-15 finishes while driving for owner Johnny Davis. With the veteran sitting 19th in Owner’s Points, a good run will push the driver closer to the top-15.

Mike Wallace Quotes: “Our team had a great top-10 finish at Talladega this past weekend. Although the car was destroyed, we were finally able to finish one of those races. That finish will add momentum to our program, and also a nice boost in points. Darlington is a historic venue that has really tight and tough racing. I am looking forward to another good finish this weekend.”
