NASCAR “Next 9” drivers visit 2013 car hauler parade

The Darlington Car Hauler Parade Committee is proud to announce that the ‘Next 9’ NASCAR K&N Pro Series drivers will attend the annual parade & festival. The ninth annual Darlington Car Hauler Parade & Festival, presented by Nationwide®Insurance, will take place on May 9th at the Florence Civic Center. The ‘Next 9’ drivers will be available for Q&A, and to meet fans and sign autographs.

The ‘Next 9’ drivers are Sergio Pena, Daniel Suarez, Darrell Wallace Jr., Ryan Blaney, Corey LaJoie, Cameron Hayley, Chase Elliott, Dylan Kwasniewski and Kyle Larson. These drivers represent the next wave of talent, providing a glimpse into what the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will look like in 2020.

“NASCAR’s Next 9 drivers are the future stars of our sport. It’s great that they will be on hand at the Darlington Car Hauler Parade so fans will have an opportunity to meet this next generation of talented drivers, many of which will likely be racing at Darlington Raceway in the near future,” Darlington Raceway president Chris Browning said.

The fun will begin at the Florence Civic Center at 4 pm with entertainment and live music by Tim Elliott & CCB. Kids play all afternoon for FREE on the KidsZone inflatable rides, games, climbing wall and bungee jump. The GameTruck® will bring a wide selection of games for Xbox360, Wii and PS3, and can accommodate up to 16 players at one time!

There will be lots of refreshments for purchase, and the proceeds from food served by Fatz® and Johnsonville® will support the Special Olympics. Kids and adults alike will love the airbrush tattoos – Get a temporary or semi-permanent logo of the track “Too Tough to Tame”! And be sure to check out the Zumba Blast stage presented by Fitness World.

Watch the ‘Next 9’ drivers compete on the Rusty Wallace Driving Experience Kart Track, and try your hand at kart racing for a small fee. The winner of the kart race gets to ride in a convertible with one of the ‘Next 9’ drivers through the parade!

Fans will enjoy the exciting silent auction full of great NASCAR items and race memorabilia. Perhaps the most exhilarating items up for bid will be the chance to ride in a convertible with a NASCAR driver or in a NASCAR big-rig through the parade! This year, the proceeds from the Silent Auction will benefit the USO.

The main attraction, however, are the plentiful NASCAR transporters. Fans can make their way through a sea of NASCAR transporters and take pictures with their favorite team’s hauler and driver, and even have a chance to ride in the big rig during the parade! Also, watch your favorite team compete in the Pilot Truck Driving Challenge, held in the Civic Center parking lot.

“The Florence area looks forward to the Darlington Car Hauler Parade presented by Nationwide Insurance each year,” notes Holly Beaumier, director of Florence Convention and Visitors Bureau . “The crowds gather for a chance to welcome NASCAR to the area, and they have a chance to get up close and personal with the racing team members.”

At 7 pm, the parade of NASCAR haulers will leave the Florence Civic Center and make the 12-mile drive to Darlington RaceFest on the Darlington Square, where there will be added entertainment, food, a car show and fireworks. The transporters will continue through Darlington until they reach the track “Too Tough to Tame” where they can begin preparation for the Bojangles’ Southern 500 race.

As if it couldn’t get any better, admission to the Darlington Car Hauler Parade is free!
