NASCAR Playoff Drivers Discuss the Bank of America ROVAL™ 400

Prior to the green flag for Sunday’s Bank of America ROVAL™ 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the drivers competing for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series championship discussed the challenges surrounding the second race on Charlotte’s innovative 2.28-mile, 17-turn ROVAL™. Four of 16 Playoff drivers will be eliminated from title contention following Sunday’s race, the third in the 10-race Playoffs and the cutoff event for Round 1.

“The pressure is always tight, especially for the guys below the cutoff line,” Kyle Busch said. “Especially with the randomness of the ROVAL™, you never know what to expect there. We saw that last year late in the going with those restarts. It was pretty chaotic. It’s going to be a fun one.”

Defending Bank of America ROVAL™ 400 winner Ryan Blaney enters Sunday’s race with an eight-point buffer over the cutoff line but still in search of his first victory this season.

“It helps your confidence anytime you win and you go back to that race track, because you feel like you know what to do now,” Blaney said. “Road courses, because they’re so different from what we do, (winning) really boosts your confidence.”
