Five stock car divisions plus Small Car Enduro this Saturday at Mahoning Valley Speedway

This coming Saturday evening, September 7, Mahoning Valley Speedway will present a five division stock car program plus a Small Car Enduro.

With the regular season fast coming to an end the battle for points across all classes is vital for those aiming towards respective division titles.

Veteran Bobby Jones has been riding number one in the Modifieds with his sights set on his first division crown with the headline class at Mahoning. However, 20-year old Kyle Strohl is closely behind, sitting just 27 points back and coming off his fifth win of the season.

The Late Models are gearing up to another down-to-the-wire finish between Frankie Althouse and Mike Sweeney. Althouse is the point leader and defending champ. Sweeney was the 2016-17 champion. This year they have seven wins each and are separated by only 17 markers and with only three point races remaining the battle is at fever pitch. Not to be uncounted is Jeremy Miller who also has a shot to unseat both of them.

In the Street Stocks Jon Moser takes a 42 point advantage into this weekend’s action. But despite that Randy Schlenker, Mark Martini, Todd Ahner and Eric Kocher stand to make a run at him.

In the Pro 4s Bobby Kibler Sr., has pretty much held the top spot in points all season long. He’s won a class leading six times in 2019. But despite the good numbers, the one he’s most interested in is 1. That’s because in 30 years of racing he’s on the cusp of his very first championship.

And, while there remains good point fights in the aforementioned groups, none can boast the thrilling contest for the top ranking then that of the Hobby Stocks.

In what has seemed like an every week swap at the top of the standings, Devin Schmidt has moved back on top a mere 15 points over Al Arthofer. Matter of fact the top-5 are only divided by 49 points which indicates that this championship will go right down the finale.

Adding to the excitement will be race #6 in the 2019 Mahoning Valley Speedway/Evergreen Raceway Small Car Enduro Series.

Not surprising that too is a close one as Steven Brooks has a slim lead over Don Rogers by only three points with Harry O’Neill and Jacob Oswald within striking distance.

The Enduro will run after all regular features. Enduro registration is $40 per car. Transponders are $6.

Race time is at 6:00 pm.

Front gates open at 4:00 pm. Adult grandstand admission is $14, $2 off for students, seniors 65+ and active military. Children under 10 are free. Pit admission is $25 for members and $35 non-members. Driver sign-ins will take place from 2:30 – 3:45. Early paid practice will run from noon to 3:00. Warmups will start at 3:45.
