Gold Standard Jim Corneilson BRings Iconic Rendition Of The Star Spangled Banner To Chicagoland Speedway

Chicagoland Speedway announced today that Chicago’s own Jim Cornelison will once again sing the National Anthem at this year’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Overton’s 400 on Sunday, June 30 for the seventh consecutive year.

The iconic Cornelison is recognized and respected nationally for his unique rendition of the “Star-Spangled Banner.” A classically-trained opera singer, Cornelison is known as the National Anthem’s Gold Standard. Over the past 10 years he has effectively utilized this platform to call attention to the “continuum of care” required for veterans and inspire Americans from all walks of life to “Live The Salute.”

“Jim’s Gold Standard rendition of the national anthem has quickly become a hallmark of our Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race,” said Chicagoland Speedway President Scott Paddock. “We are honored to have Jim once again kick off the festivities with his over-the-top powerful performance, and it’s only fitting that we announce his return on Veterans Day. Our race fans greatly appreciate the pageantry and patriotism of our race weekend and who better to sing the national anthem than Jim.”

“I am thrilled to be returning once again to Chicagoland Speedway to be part of a fabulous weekend of NASCAR racing and honoring of both active military and veterans,” said Cornelison. “The Chicagoland team’s ongoing efforts to support veterans and their families exemplifies their commitment to ‘Live the Salute.”’

Cornelison has belted out the national anthem at major sporting events since 1996 and brought his talents to Chicagoland Speedway in 2013. As the son of military parents, Cornelison uses his “Live the Salute” platform to showcase his patronage at sporting events and in everyday life.
