Gateway Motorsports Park to host and recognize returning U.S. Steel Corp. employees at NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on June 23

Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Illinois, will recognize the more than 500 men and women who are returning to work at the United States Steel Corporation’s plant in Granite City, Illinois, at its annual NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Saturday, June 23. Each returning U.S. Steel worker will receive two complementary tickets to the Villa Lighting delivers the Eaton 200 presented by CK Power. They also will be recognized during pre-race ceremonies. The Granite City steel plant is less than five miles from Gateway Motorsports Park.

“This is all about the strength of our community,” said Curtis Francois, President and CEO of Gateway Motorsports Park. “We all are pulling the same rope, together, through the good times and not-so-good times. We were proud to host the Rally at the Raceway fundraiser for the idled workers in 2016 and now we will celebrate their return to work at our NASCAR event.”

U.S. Steel Corp. restarted the Granite City blast furnace in March, recalled 500 employees and may hire an additional 300 workers.
