Darlington Raceway partners with Francis Marion baseball for race night

Darlington Raceway and Francis Marion University athletic officials have announced the Patriot baseball team will host Darlington Raceway Night on Tuesday, March 25, when FMU battles North Carolina rival Barton College.

First-pitch for the game will be at 7 p.m. on Cormell Field at Sparrow Stadium. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students. FMU students will be admitted free with identification and appropriate Swamp Fox Club passes will be honored.

The evening will feature in-game promotions and a ceremonial first-pitch by Darlington Raceway President Chip Wile.

Members of the track staff will also be on site throughout the evening promoting Darlington Raceway’s special college ticket pricing for the April 12 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Bojangles’ Southern 500. Students who present a valid ID receive special discounts for race tickets.

“This is the perfect opportunity for us to engage with our local university and promote our special college pricing,” Wile said. “We appreciate the partnership we have with FMU and the baseball program. It’s a fun way to promote to the next generation of NASCAR fans.”

There will be a race package giveaway during the seventh-inning stretch with registration taking place behind the main grandstands. The package will include tickets to the Bojangles’ Southern 500, pre-race pit passes and a pace car ride on race day.

The raceway will also provide a giveaway to each fan wearing NASCAR apparel to the game.

“This is the second year of this great partnership,” said FMU director of athletics Murray Hartzler. “We are fortunate to have Darlington Raceway in our local area. It will be a fun night for our students and race fans who attend the game.”
