May 17 and 18 at Homestead-Miami Speedway: Unique opportunity to drive track and car wash

Homestead-Miami Speedway will host its Car Wash and Ride for Charity on Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18. The event provides the rare opportunity for participants to drive their car around the same 1.5-mile track that hosts season-ending championship races in NASCAR’s top three series.

Proceeds from the event will benefit three charities:Driving for a Cause— Homestead-Miami Speedway’s charitable arm, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Miami-Dade Sports Commission.

The Car Wash and Ride for Charity will take place in the Garage area Friday from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. EDT Friday (May 17) and on Pit Road from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Saturday (May 18).

For a $20 donation, participants can have their car washed, and then navigate a paced lap around the championship-hosting track. Additional laps on the oval track, which features variable banking ranging from six to 20 degrees, will be available for a $10 donation.

“Most don’t get the opportunity to experience what it’s like to drive on the same track that NASCAR’s top drivers race on each November in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship race, the Ford EcoBoost 400,” said Homestead-Miami Speedway President Matthew Becherer. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Best of all, Car Wash and Ride for Charity benefits three worthy causes.”

Car Wash and Ride for Charity is part of NASCAR Day– a series of nationwide events that same weekend in which tracks that host NASCAR races, corporate partners and millions of fans come together to raise funds for worthy charities. Now in its 10th year, NASCAR Day has raised nearly $12 million primarily for children’s philanthropies.

Friday night’s event runs concurrent with Speedway T-n-T, where cars can legally drag race along the 1/8-mile Pit Road from 6:00 p.m. until midnight. Guests that participate in Car Wash and Ride can also participate in T-n-T for $10 (regularly $20) and stay as spectators for free (regularly $10).
