With another weekend off from his NCWTS schedule, Friesen packed his Memorial Day weekend with as much dirt racing as possible, and swept the competition.
Following his win at Fonda, Friesen moved on to Weedsport Speedway for May 28’s “Heroes Remembered 100”. He went out and drove a flawless 100 laps in the lead on the 3/8-mile Weedsport oval and recorded a $7,500 triumph in the opening event on the 2018 Super DIRTcar Series for big-block modifieds.
The next weekend, instead of returning to his home track of Fonda, Friesen would try his hand on the newly resurfaced Orange County Fair Speedway (OCFS) in Middletown, NY, coming down from Sprakers, NY for June 2’s “Nostalgia Night 2018”. Friesen had already secured a win this year at OCFS in the Short Track Super Series (STSS) show “The Hard Clay Open” just weeks before on the old track surface in addition to winning last years STSS season closer “The Hard Clay Finale.” Friesen made short work of the field at OCFS, despite racing a new and unfamiliar track surface, and secured his second consecutive win this year on the 5/8 mile dirt oval.
Friesen heads this week to Texas Motor Speedway for the Rattlesnake 400, with a couple of extra notches on his belt from the dirt side, and a consistently top 10 finishing no. 52 Chevy Silverado. Can Friesen’s winning streak on dirt translate to a strong finish this Friday night at Texas? Tune in Fri, Jun 8, at 9:00 PM on FS1 to find out!
