Blaine Perkins Looking for Redemption in First start at the Pocono Raceway

Last month, 18-year-old Blaine Perkins was in position to win in just his second ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start at the Talladega Superspeedway. A late yellow coming to the white flag set up a green-white-checkered finish and Perkins tank ran dry. He would rebound cross the finish line in 13th.  The Bakersfield, California native will pilot the No. 98 AUTOparkit/Four Star Fruit Chevrolet for Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM). It also marks Perkins first start at the 2.5-mile Pocono Raceway located in Long Pond, Pennsylvania.

“It’s a big confidence booster going into Pocono after seeing the success we had at Talladega,” an excited Perkins described. “We definitely didn’t get the result out of Talladega that we deserved, but we ran up front all day and had a chance to win a Superspeedway race. I know MMM will give me a great racecar. They always run strong at Pocono including winning here last July.”

Last weekend, Perkins raced his late model at his hometown track the Irwindale Raceway located in Irwindale, California. He earned two podium finishes coming home runner-up in the first 40 lap race and then finishing third in the second 40 lap feature.

Mason Mitchell Motorsports earned the win last July at the Pocono Raceway with Justin Haley. Perkins and the team will partake in the open test session Wednesday, May 30th in preparation for Friday’s 200-mile race.

“I have been watching footage of both races from last year. I have also been practicing Pocono on Iracing just to get a feel for the track heading into Wednesday’s test. One of the biggest things I learned at Talladega was how to save fuel under caution. I believe that will help in Friday afternoon’s race.”
