MMR: Double Trouble – Baize to Compete in WhosYourDriver.org Twin 100s at South Boston Speedway

The Martin-McClure Racing organization has dried off from the washout at Bristol Motor Speedway and has their eyes set on their next event in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Schedule. The WhosYourDriver.org Twin 100 will take place on May 6,2017 at South Boston Speedway in South Boston, VA. This .4-mile banked oval track celebrates it’s 60th year in operation and has hosted NASCAR touring series events since 1960. The track surface recently underwent a repavement and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East teams will likely take advantage of the testing day in order to perfect their racecars ahead of the event.

Hunter Baize, who currently sits second in driver points, will be under the direction of crew chief Chris Carrier.

Eric McClure:

“As a young team, it seems like we’re always celebrating firsts. At Bristol, we had another first – we secured our first non-win top-5 finishe which was a neat achievement. This weekend, our team will accomplish another first in this twin race format. To succeed in South Boston, it’ll be important to make sure that our team paces themselves. We have two 100 lap events which will both require our best.

Hunter will have to stay focused, stay hydrated, and rest as much as possible throughout the weekend. Our team will have to do the same as well. I look forward to getting back to the race track and competing this weekend.”

Hal Martin:

“This season has been a whirlwind for us thus far. Hunter has been solidly in the top-10 at each event including a top-5 at Bristol. We’re not letting these successes go to our heads though. We’re still as committed and dedicated as ever. Our team has really gelled and has become something special.

As a driver, Hunter has shown such composure and an eagerness to grow and learn his craft. He’s been great to work with.

This weekend will be challenging in that our team will have to bring their A-game for the South Boston double header. We’ve been preparing hard at the shop and we’re ready for South Boston.”

Hunter Baize:

“I’m very excited about the upcoming WhosYourDriver.org Twin 100s at South Boston. My Martin-McClure Racing crew have given me competitive cars every race this season, and I know they’re working hard to do the same this weekend. The twin race format will make this weekend extremely crucial in the season-long points battle, but I know our entire MMR organization is ready for the challenge, and we are looking forward to getting to the race track.”
