Brent Sherman ARCA Return Success as he Earns Top-10 Finish in SCOTT 150 at Chicagoland Speedway

The 2009 Spring Salem race was the last time Brent Sherman was in an ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards car before Thursday evenings SCOTT 150.  Despite not being in any car since then, Sherman showed he still has what it takes to get the job done as he earned a ninth place finish with Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM) at the 1.5-mile Chicagoland Speedway.

“It really didn’t feel like I was out of the car that long,” an excited Sherman stated after the SCOTT 150. “We took our time during practice and made a lot of changes. Come race time I thought what did I get myself into. We played a little bit of strategy at the end of the race and unfortunately, I spun the tires getting through the gears.”

“It was so great being back behind one of these ARCA cars, a lot has changed in the series since my last race. I can’t thank everyone enough at A. Marek Fine Jewelry and MMM for this opportunity. I really had a lot of fun competing again tonight.”

On the evenings final pit-stop with 23 laps to go, crew chief Mason Mitchell elected to take two tires and get the No. 98 car track position. The No. 98 crew sent Sherman back to the track in the second position.

On the evenings final restart, still getting used to the cars Sherman spun the tires getting through the gears and slipped back to the ninth spot.

Sherman would bring the No. 98 car across the finish line in the ninth spot for a top-ten in his return to ARCA competition. The finish marked his third top-ten in four ARCA starts at Chicagoland Speedway. The finish marks MMM’s second top-ten finish in three starts at the 1.5-mile track.

After one of the most grueling stretches in ARCA, three races in 11 days, the team heads back to Mooresville to prepare for next Tuesdays test at the newly repaved Kentucky Speedway.
