Kyle Weatherman Earns Impressive Runner-Up Finish at Madison with Mason Mitchell Motorsports

Despite switching team’s midweek, one thing remained the same and that was Kyle Weatherman’s will to win. Weatherman driver of the No. 98 for Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM) finished an impressive second in his debut with the team in the Montgomery Ward 200 at the Madison International Speedway (MIS) Sunday afternoon.

“We had a very dominate racecar today,” a dejected Kyle Weatherman stated after the Montgomery Ward 200. “I can’t thank everyone at MMM enough for their hard work this weekend, we led a lot of laps and positioned ourselves with a chance to win. Unfortunately, we made contact with a lapped car and spun coming off turn four. Our team remained calm and we were able to work our way back up to second at the finish. We needed a few more laps to catch Josh. Overall it was a great afternoon.”

Weatherman dominated the first half of the 200 lap event and even lapped all the way up to the sixth position before the caution waved shortly after halfway.

In the closing stages of the event Weatherman was closing in on leader Josh Williams when a lapped machine made contact with Weatherman coming off of turn four sending the two for a spin. With no apparent damage, Weatherman hit pit-road under the guidance of crew chief Mason Mitchell.

Weatherman and the No. 98 team would run out of laps and would finish in the second spot. It marks the best finish for Weatherman so far during the 2016 ARCA Racing Series season. Weatherman was credited with leading the most laps, leading 109 of the 200 laps.
