Hessert, Third in Point Standings, Returns to the Irish Hills of Michigan

Tom Hessert, driver of Venturini Motorsports No.25 Cometic Gasket Toyota, returns to the Irish Hills of Michigan for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards 35th running of the Corrigan Oil 200 at Michigan International Speedway on Friday, June 10.

Hessert, a five-time series winner, will make his ninth career start at Michigan Int’l Speedway. His best finish of fourth coming last season.

“Although we had a pretty tough weekend battling track position at Pocono we learned a lot about the new composite body last weekend,” said Hessert. “After struggling a bit early in the race we made some adjustments and unlocked a lot of speed. I’m expecting things to transfer over this week. Venturini Motorsports has a solid track record at Michigan so I think we’ll have a pretty good shot.”

Entering Friday’s Corrigan Oil 200, Hessert holds down the third spot in ARCA’s championship point standings. Trailing ARCA rookie Chase Briscoe by 145 points for top spot, Hessert knows the importance of strong results.

“We’re out there competing for a championship,” said Hessert. “With a twenty-race schedule every race counts, especially at this point of the season where we’re racing just about every weekend. I really don’t put a lot of pressure on myself. If I go out there and run the race I’m capable of running everything will work out in the end. At this point I think the pressure is on the guy in the top spot. One or two bad breaks makes a huge difference and can really shuffle the deck.”
