German driver Marko Stipp Makes NWES Debut

The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series will welcome a new German driver on May 15-16 at Raceway Venray, the high-banked half-mile oval located on the border between the Netherlands and Germany, in the context of the Autospeedway American Style. Herford-native Marko Stipp will join the European NASCAR Series in the ELITE 2 Division at the wheel of the #14 Team Raceway Venray Chevrolet SS he will share with Barry Maessen.

Stipp built his racing resume in the legendary “Green Hell” of the Nurburgring, in the VLN Endurance Series, before moving to the Venray’s LMV8 series and he will aim at taking advantage of his oval racing experience in his NASCAR Whelen Euro Series debut.

“I am really excited to have this opportunity to debut on such an important stage and to have the chance to share the car with Barry Maessen. It is an important step for my career and I am sure we will have a great car thanks to the Team Raceway Venray,” said the 39-year-old, who will also compete for the Rookie Cup. “I have some experience at Venray, but both the car and the Series are new for me. I am sure it will be a lot of fun.”

Stipp’s program for the remainder of the season is still to be defined and will be evaluated on a race-by-race base.

“It all depends on sponsorship, but I would really like to drive in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series for the entire season and especially at Brands Hatch and Zolder, because I already know the tracks and it would be a fantastic experience. I also hope to able to contend for the Rookie Cup and the chance to win a race in NASCAR in the US!” concluded the German.

The Raceway Venray weekend will be broadcasted live on Fanschoice.tv starting from Sunday, May 15 qualifying session at 9 am CET and live updates from the track will be available on the NASCAR Home Tracks Race Central Live page.
