Motorsport 98: De Doncker Looking For Improvement And Fun

Team owner/driver Eric De Doncker will return to defend his 2015 Legend Trophy win at the wheel of the new #98 Motorsport 98 Ford Mustang, racing in both NASCAR Whelen Euro Series divisions.

“The new car is fantastic, it looks great and performs as well. The upgrade package makes it definitely faster and the new body is simply stunning,” said the Belgian, whose Mustang will feature a classic and aggressive orange-striped livery.

In his first NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season, De Doncker scored six top-10s in the ELITE 2 Division on his way to the first place in the Legend Trophy, while his first career top-10 in the ELITE 1 Division came during the American SpeedFest at Brands Hatch.

“We learned a lot last year in our debut season, and the goal for 2016 is definitely to improve, thanks to experience we gained. We want to be in the top-5 in ELITE 2 and in the top-10 in ELITE 1 and of course have fun,” said the Brussels native. “And you have the most fun when you’re in front!”

De Doncker took his first laps at the wheel the new #98 Motorsport 98 Ford Mustang in a test session at Circuit Zolder, the track hosting the 2016 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series Finals on October 3-4, and he immediately found a good feeling with the upgrades NWES brought to the car, including new aerodynamics, Dexwet High Performance engine filter and new shock absorbers.

“The car feels a lot improved, more stable and more reactive out of the slow corners and I was lot faster than last year, even on old tires,” said De Doncker. “I also feel the car better and I am really confident for this new season.”

Next time out for Motorsport 98 will be on April 21 in Valencia, as the team will take part in the traditional pre-season test the day before the official beginning of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season.
