Riley Herbst Joins LFR Driver Development Group for Full 2016 Season

The LFR Driver Development Group is excited to announce that Riley Herbst will be joining the team full-time in 2016. Herbst, a 16-year-old Las Vegas, Nev. native, made both his team and Super Late Model debut this past weekend at the CARS Tour season finale at Hickory Motor Speedway where he finished 11th.

“We are looking forward to having Riley join our organization for 2016,” said Rob Fuller, team owner. “He really turned some heads last week at Hickory. We had a brand new LFR Chassis car built for him that never made a lap until Thursday when Riley took it out for the first practice session. The car performed fantastic and Riley got up to speed faster than we anticipated. He is a great kid and his family was great all weekend. He will be a perfect fit in the LFR DDG for next season. We are all looking forward to getting him to victory lane in the Supers and watching him grow through out next season.”

Herbst’s racing career began when he was just 7 years old, as he competed in Go Karts, Trophy Karts and Legend Cars. His desire to race stems from his family, as both his dad and grandfather were off-road racers. This year, Herbst competed in Irwindale Speedway’s Truck Series and Late Model Series, where he captured Rookie-Of-The-Year honors for both divisions and the Truck Series Championship.

“It was a great year of racing for me at Irwindale Speedway!” explained Herbst. “But I’m also ready to make the move to Super Late Models and work full-time with the LFR Driver Development Group. I really couldn’t have asked for anything more this past weekend during my first race with them. They have a lot of knowledge and experience over there, so I’m very excited to see how next goes and what I can learn from them.”

Next year, Herbst is set to compete full-time in the LFR Driver Development Group’s 2016 Super Late Model season. The group’s year will kick off with two-weeks of racing during New Smyrna Speedway’s Speedweeks in February.

“I’m really looking forward to learning as much as I can from Rob and everyone over at LFR,” said Herbst. “Next year will be a great learning year, and I’m excited to put together some solid runs and great finishes for them!”
